Schofferhofer: Spring Has Sprung, Time For Summer!

A typical May in Seattle sees the clouds finally start breaking, letting through the first warm rays of sunshine seen since at least September of the previous year.

This year is different. This year, winter is dragging out as long as possible, minimizing our would-be spring. At this point, it isn’t even worth holding out hope that spring will arrive. There’s no evidence to say that spring has to come. We could just skip it entirely, at the expense of literally everyone.

But summer? Summer is eternal, even if it isn’t hot enough to wear a t-shirt.

Just in time for summer, my favorite is-it-beer-is-it-juice-doesn’t-matter-I’ll-drink-it beverage company Schofferhofer is releasing two new flavors, including one with a twist (spoiler alert: cans).

What Makes Summer? Pineapple and Cherries

Picture this: you’re on a beach, it’s nice out, and you’re sipping on a pineapple drink. Unless you live in Hawaii, odds are that you aren’t drinking a pina colada out of a pineapple.

Much like its brethren, Schofferhofer Juicy Pineapple is perfect for the beach. Following in the same flavor-popping footsteps, Juicy Pineapple is the perfect blend of pineapple and alcohol for easy drinking. At a lower 2.5% ABV, it also doesn’t carry the same weight as other beers you might bring to the beach. I’m sure you can just imagine the beach bloat thinking about it.

While the Juicy Pineapple is an excellent addition to Schofferhofer’s growing library of hits, the real hit is the new Wild Cherry. Yes, it tastes great, but the best thing about the Wild Cherry? Cans.

A complete revelation in more ways than I understood at first, Schofferhofer adding cans to its lineup completely changes the game. Cans are easily openable, crushable, smooshable, and non-smashable. Remember my beach vision I summoned earlier? I bet it didn’t include broken glass. And now you can guarantee it won’t!

Ok, as for the Wild Cherry flavor — not my favorite, to be honest (I’m still impartial to the Grapefruit flavor). But it’s worth a try if cherry is your go-to flavor. As an added plus, the Wild Cherry comes in a variety pack with Grapefruit, Passion Fruit, and Pomegranate. Also, they’re all in cans now, too.

Summer is Just Around the Corner

With any luck for those of us in Seattle, summer could be just around the corner.

If you’re like me, then you’re probably late to the party on realizing that those tasty barrel-aged stouts took their toll, and now it’s time to think healthier. For my list of low-calorie faves, check out these low-cal beers that don’t suck.
